Artist's Description

I found the remains of an old boat ramp or pier along the shore in front of Fort Adams state park in Newport Rhode Island. I thought it would be best to capture the image using a photographic technique called long exposure photography. By keeping the shutter open for an extended amount of time while exposing the photo, things that move become blurred. Since the old ruins did not move they remain clear and sharp in the photograph, but the water becomes silky and smooth as it's motion causes it to blur.
