While working on some photographic interpretations of Dutch vanitas still life paintings, I originally intended to showcase the final works in black and white. The late afternoon sun on this very cloudy day allowed me to capture such wonderfully muted colors, that I decided to offer these images in both full color and black and white.
Vanitas still life works contain symbols of death and change, as a reminder to the viewer of this inevitability and the ephemeral nature of human life.
I'm a fine art photographer offering photo prints to art lovers and interior decorators, since 2011.
