Description
Still life photograph depicting a dagger and two apples. One of the apples is sliced in two, revealing it's core.
This photo is from an ongoing series of still life photography in which I use objects that have symbolic meaning from Dutch Vanitas paintings.
The knife or dagger can be seen to represent human vulnerability and mortality. A knife often symbolizes male sexuality, and some consider it a phallic symbol.
The Apples could be to represent love, wisdom, death, or temptation and original sin.
